Helping Our Neighbors in Need
When times get tough, Union County steps up. The recent interruption of SNAP benefits has left many families facing uncertainty about how to put food on the table — and we’re answering that call together.
2nd Chances Thrift Store has launched a Community Challenge to support our local food pantries and help meet this urgent need. Through a partnership with Union County Foundation, donations will flow swiftly to the people in need.
💙 2nd Chances Thrift Store will match every dollar raised — up to $5,000!
Your donation will go directly to supplying food and essential items for families right here in Union County.
What is SNAP?
Understanding how SNAP supports families helps us see the impact of these interruptions:
-
SNAP provides monthly benefits to help low-income households buy nutritious food.
-
Benefits are loaded onto an EBT card, which can be used like a debit card at grocery stores and farmers markets.
-
Families often rely on SNAP to stretch their grocery budget, and even a short disruption can cause serious hardship.
-
When SNAP funding is interrupted, local food pantries become the first line of support — and they need our help to meet the increased demand.
Every figure tells a story
In Union County, thousands of neighbors rely on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) each month just to help get by.
These aren’t just statistics—they represent families, children, and individuals who depend on support for food security.
